Wood Look Floating Shelves (with paint and stain!)

Get this “simple to do” wooden search with paint and stain on any task from home furnishings to decor!

Good day my superb buddies! Wow, everyday living has been so mad all around right here these days. SO much heading on. I will be glad when things settle down a bit so I can get again to all the fun assignments I have prepared. I hope you haven’t minded seeing some older posts I have pulled from the archive! I determine some of you may well have missed them the initial time close to so may well be a fantastic time to revisit.

But nowadays I’ve acquired a new a single for  ya! I am seeking challenging to get this hall bathroom accomplished. (and it almost is other than for decorating and a few closing touches, yippee!)

Regrettably, points went in a bit of a unique direction to some degree simply because I could not get that vanity cupboard. BUT I love how it went! From time to time things just work out for the much better, adore that.

I’m not exhibiting you the whole bathroom nowadays. I’m sharing the floating cabinets that I gave a “wood look” to with paint and stain.

And as a refresher…here is how they utilized to look with the previous wall color.

They seem great in white with that wall color.

But not so great with this color…

Which is not “white-white” although it seems it. It’s my beloved soft (not heat) white that I utilised in our kitchen, morning space and dining space downstairs.
It is a shade by Benjamin Moore known as Pure White. I experienced it color matched at Sherwin Williams however.

I realized I required them to have a wood appear for the reason that of almost everything else I have heading on in right here. There are numerous strategies to do it but I determined to do it related to how I not too long ago did the tub cabinet in our downstairs visitor bathtub. I did do 1 little minimal thing diverse on these though. I’ll display ya! )

I began by taping the shelves up with my complete favorite tape.

Then I painted them with the Cobblestone paint connected earlier mentioned.

And then the excess step that I did this time…dry brushing on some of the “Ash” color. (see it previously mentioned?)

And below…

I just imagined that may possibly give it a bit more dimension like authentic wooden has beneath the stain.
I feel it was a excellent alternative. Additional may possibly have been even improved.

Once that was dry (I let it sit overnight given that it is drinking water centered and the stain is oil based) I applied the stain. (with a lint no cost rag)

See the bottom one particular I stained? The prime a single is still just paint.
Is not that the coolest? I enjoy how it appears wooden-ish. And oh so basically too!

Here’s one more shot  to see the leading improved. (with the light on)

And performed!

So a great deal much better than white. There is a whole lot of white heading on in below currently, the cabinets didn’t require to be white too! lol

I’m so joyful with how they turned out. That Driftwood stain is versitile, I notify ya!
And just one of the darker stains I provide in the store would do the job properly as well if you are likely for a darker wooden search.
