In a social media clip, interior design expert Becca laid out the design blunders you’ll want to avoid.

RUG PLACEMENT

“Rugs that are too large or too small for a space may make your space feel unfinished. Instead, follow these rules of thumb,” Becca said.

For starters, under your dining table, you’ll want to make sure your rug extends beyond each chair.

“Your guest do not want to slide their chairs off the rug,” the interior expert explained.

When it comes to rug placement in your living room, ensure that at least two legs of your couch are on the rug.

MATCHING FURNITURE SETS

“As convenient as these are to buy, they tend to look dull,” Becca said of matching furniture sets.

“Instead incorporate a variety of materials and textures to your space to create visual interest. When chosen correctly, mixed materials and added texture create a luxurious feel.”

WALL DECOR

You don’t want wall decor that isn’t suitable for the scale of the space.

Becca stated: “When picking wall art decor and mirrors for your home, ensure that the piece complements the scale of the room. Believe it or not, there is such thing as too big or too small in design so choose wisely.”
