Hollywood stand off ends with man shot dead by police, fire on roof of home

FORT LAUDERDALE – According to the Broward County Sheriff’s office environment, the incident commenced Wednesday morning when deputies tried to follow up on an investigation and tried to make get in touch with with the man at a home in the 2700 block of Dewey Road in Hollywood.

BSO advised CBS4 News, a deputy fired at the gentleman after he exited the property with a metal rod, and tried to use it as a spear.

“He experienced it out with the cops he was refusing to go away. He barricaded himself inside of the property and they communicated with him the complete time,” explained Andrea Cato, who lives across from the property. “He started off throwing Molotov cocktails at them to get them off the house,” she additional.

Investigators informed CBS4 Information the man refused to leave the house and threatened to harm himself and many others. 

Members from BSO’s Threat Administration Unit, The Hollywood Law enforcement Office and the Hollywood SWAT group worked with each other to negotiate with the male in the home. At 1 stage, members of the swat team could be observed throwing a flash grenade into the home.

Through the standoff a part of the house caught fire.

“He began the fire from within from what we realize. And I guess due to the fact he was in there for so long they could only handle the fireplace from the outside, they couldn’t get in to quit it,” mentioned Cato.

One more neighbor told CBS4 News she read a number of loud blasts right before the fireplace erupted.
